English lesson

Hurricane Charley hit the west coast of Florida on August 13, 2004. It reached category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale at landfall and wreaked havoc on the usually paradise-like Florida.

According to U.S. records, this western hurricane is the second costliest in the States with damage costs counting 11.2 billion! However, the true loss lies in the number of lives lost during the rampage of Charley. 24 humans lost their lives and 792 experienced serious injury.

Mother Nature is a powerful force and we are reminded of the frailty of human life when these things happen.
